Cultivating Saffron at Home: A Comprehensive Guide to Growing the “Red Gold”

Saffron bulbs, or corms, require loose, nutrient-rich soil with excellent drainage to thrive. A mix of potting soil and coarse sand or perlite provides the ideal texture and drainage for saffron cultivation. Plant the corms approximately 4 inches deep with the pointy end up, spacing them about 3 inches apart. Late summer or early fall is the best time to plant saffron corms, allowing them to establish before cooler temperatures set in.

Location and Climate:

Position the containers in a sunny spot that receives at least 6-8 hours of sunlight daily.
