The first step in saffron cultivation is choosing the right container. Saffron crocuses thrive in well-draining pots that are at least 6 inches deep and 8-12 inches in diameter. Terracotta or breathable fabric pots are recommended, as they promote uniform soil drying and prevent root rot. Ensure each pot has adequate drainage holes to prevent waterlogging, which can be detrimental to saffron bulbs.
