1️⃣ Preheat the Oven

  • Set your oven to 400°F (200°C).

  • For even crisping, place your baking sheet in the oven while it preheats. This gives the fries an extra head start to browning on contact.

2️⃣ Prepare the Potatoes

  • Wash and scrub 3 large russet potatoes (you can peel them if preferred, but the skin adds flavor and texture).

  • Cut each potato into long, thin strips — aim for ¼ inch thickness.

    • Try to keep the size uniform so they cook evenly.

    • You can also cut them into wedge shapes if you prefer thicker fries, but you may need to adjust the baking time.

    • Soak the cut potatoes in cold water for 30 minutes if you have time — this removes excess starch and helps them get even crispier. Dry them thoroughly before continuing.
