Picture the scene: four women lined up, all wearing the same blue dress, standing with their backs turned. Nothing spectacular at first glance. Yet the answer lies in the details.

Each woman is numbered from 1 to 4. And here is what we can notice:

  • Woman #1 : Straight, dark, perfectly straight hair. A modern and classic  cut  .
  • Woman #2  : Thick, curly, natural-looking hair.
  • Woman #3  : Light hair, carefully slicked back to the middle of her back.
  • Woman #4  : Short, gray hair. The temptation to call her the oldest is immediate…

But is it really that obvious?

The trap: our stereotypes play tricks on us

This is where the puzzle gets interesting. It forces us to judge by appearance: gray hair is associated with old age, while long or curly haircuts evoke youth.

But let’s take a moment to look at it differently.

Important clue: posture . Woman No. 4, despite her gray hair, has a straight back, smooth neck skin, and  no visible signs of sagging . Conversely, the other women show  slight signs of  age-related signs: drooping shoulders, less toned neck, etc.
