Another study showed a polysaccharide from P. tenuifolia induced apoptosis in sarcoma (S180) cells in vitro and in mice, with immunomodulation effects.
-
In addition, extracts from the roots show anti-inflammatory activity (which is relevant because inflammation is tied to cancer risk/ progression).
⚠️ What the research doesn’t show (yet)
-
These studies are preclinical only (cells and animals). No convincing large scale human trials exist showing that P. tenuifolia cures cancer or reliably treats cancer in people.
-
Extracts used are purified polysaccharides or compounds, under controlled lab conditions — not simply “take the herb and it kills cancer cells in your body”.
-
“Destroys cancer cells” is an overly broad claim — in the lab, yes there is evidence of cancer cell suppression, but this does not automatically translate to safe or effective cancer therapy in humans.
