To ensure your pots and pans remain in excellent condition over time, it’s important to tailor your cleaning approach to the type of material you’re dealing with:
- Enamel, Teflon, aluminum, and stainless steel should always be cleaned with care. Avoid abrasive scrubbing tools, which may scratch, dull, or permanently damage their surfaces.
- Ceramic cookware is equally sensitive. Harsh powders or metal brushes should be avoided; instead, opt for soft materials and mild pressure.
- Heavily soiled Teflon pans benefit from pre-soaking. Fill the pan with warm water and leave it for several hours. This softens stubborn residue, making it easier to remove with the paste without risking scratches.
- Cast iron pieces require a final protective step. After cleaning and thoroughly drying them, rub a thin layer of oil onto the surface. This prevents rust formation and helps maintain the seasoning that keeps cast iron in optimal condition.
