- Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
- Add the cold, cubed butter. Using a pastry cutter or your fingertips, blend it into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Make a small well in the center of the bowl and pour in the buttermilk.
- Stir gently until the dough begins to come together—avoid overmixing.
- Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead just a few times until it holds together.
- Roll the dough out to about ¾ inch thickness.
- Cut out biscuits using a round cutter and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Gather and gently re-roll the scraps to cut additional biscuits.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the tops are golden and lightly browned.
- Brush the hot biscuits with melted butter for extra flavor.
