It all began about a year ago during the annual office Secret Santa exchange. Sarah, a coworker I considered friendly and kind, handed me a small, beautifully wrapped gift. Inside, I found a lovely silver ring with a small, shimmering emerald in its center. The gift felt special—it was personal and seemed more thoughtful than a simple, generic present. Sarah and I had always gotten along well, sharing laughs over coffee, working smoothly on projects, and even complaining together about our early-morning meetings.
